UDAWALAWE
Udawalawe National Park is one of the Dry-Zone evergreen forests in Sri Lanka. It is the sixth-largest wildlife sanctuary in the country which possesses a huge value of biodiversity. The park lies on the boundary of Sabaragamuwa and Uva Provinces, Sri Lanka.
Udawalawe is undoubtedly the best place in Sri Lanka to see wild Asian Elephants throughout the year: there are about 500 elephants in the park and they often roam in herds of up to 100. Udawalawe National Park is unique in terms of consistency in numbers of elephants roaming the park: it has no a seasonal variation in herds of elephants. The best hours to visit the park are in the mornings and evenings. Late evening also affords the photographic opportunities in the backdrop of loveliest sunsets.
The park provides a natural habitat for various species of fauna.
Water Buffalo, Wildboar, Spotted Deer, Sambur Deer, Jackal, Samber, Black-naped hare, mongooses, bandicoots, foxes, s the endemic Toque Macaque and Gray Langers. Sighting a Leopard and other smaller cats like Fishing cat & Jungle cat would be a bonus.

Also, you will able to capture the natural scenery spots around an amazing animal kingdom. Suggested times for the safari are slot into morning and half-day segments and full-day jeep safaris.
There is not a fixed time in the year to visit the National Park in Udawalawe because all the animals can be seen at any time of the year. This park is open the entire year for safaris. It is even open during the time of September or October. This is the time when the level of water is lowest and the mating of Asian elephants takes place. If a person wishes to see Asian Elephant herds then they should visit the park between October and January.
